Designing for ecommerce is a race against the clock. On Amazon, the average shopper makes a decision in just five seconds. That means packaging and product imagery have to work overtime in grabbing attention.

For PAWPAW by Jeanne, a playful pet product company, I was tasked with creating branding, packaging and ecommerce graphics that stood out in a saturated market.

My goal was to design visuals that not only reflected the joy and love people feel for their pets, but also aligned with current trends in the pet industry.

Challenge #1: Making things look great and on trend while adhering to Amazons strict design guidelines and standardized formats.

Challenge #2: No budget for photoshoots. Working with limited resources, we didn’t have a cat on hand for photoshoots, so I took a scrappy, creative approach. Every pet image in the project was either AI-generated or carefully composited in Photoshop to create realistic, engaging visuals that brought the product to life.

Through this project and mentorship from my supervisor, I gained a deeper understanding of how ecommerce design directly impacts sales, from the importance of thumbnail visibility to the role of trust signals like clean design, high-res images, and strong hierarchy.
